Description

The Perky-Pet Squirrel-Be-Gone Wild Bird Feeder features six feeding ports, U-shaped perches and holds 3.4 lbs. of seed. The interior seed tower is surrounded by rustic metalwork. The feeding ports have sturdy metal perches that allow birds to feed comfortably but, when the squirrels perch on them, their weight causes the entire metal casing to slip down, completely blocking the feeding ports and their access to the seed. The six perch/feeding station set-up, coupled with the anti-squirrel technology makes this feeder one of the most economical and convenient on the market! The clear, shatter-proof plastic reservoir makes it easy to monitor seed levels. Remember to clean your feeder once every two weeks with mild soap and water solution. Comes fully assembled with seed tray. Perky-Pet is the leading supplier of Wild Bird Feeders and Accessories. Perky-Pet Wild Bird Feeder models lure the bird in pursuit of seed providing you with hours of joy as random wild birds flock to feed at your house.

  • My squirrels are not only perky, but extremely inventive. They hang upside down off the roof and eat out of the ports! However, it was a good deal for the price. I’m spending $5.00 on bird seen every other week instead of every week.

  • I bought this feeder for its squirrel proof ability. That worked pretty good. However, the feeder would be much more durable had they used a polycarbonate for the container portion of the feeder. After a year, the post in the top which hold the springs dislodged, and cracked the cheap plastic. Now, it’s trashed.

Spend a little extra and get something glass or polycarbonate.

  • I’ve noted a wide range of ratings for this product. I rate the product four stars, but I can see others rating it much lower.

I experienced more aggressive/imaginative squirrel activity moving from one house to another. At my previous house there was no need for this type of feeder, but in our current location the squirrels were getting more seed than the birds. After trying a variety of feeders, the Squirrel BeGone proved the most effective. It also provides some entertainment value for my wife and I watching the young squirrels in their unsuccessful attempts to get at the seed. I have ordered several of these over the years.

However, I note with my latest purchase the metal leafs designed to cover the seed openings are not a sturdy as the leaves in earlier versions of this product. I have to frequently check the leafs to see if they need to be bent back into place. Based on this experience, I can see where some customers would be dissatisfied if they have tenacious squirrels.

I think the chipmunks are starting to get at the seed since they are lighter. I will wait and see if they can foil this new Squirrel BeGone.

  • I was somewhat sceptical about “another sure device to defeat squirrels at the birdfeeder”, but this one lives up to its advertising ! It is very well made, looks nice hanging amongst the branches, and really keeps the squirrels out of the feed. One can adjust the tension of the springs that govern the closing of the “doors” to the seed chambers so that even the slightest weight by a squirrel (or large bird, if you want)automatically shuts the gate in its face! This is a great product and is well worth the rather low price.

  • The idea is terrific but after buying 2 of these feeders the springs do not hold the weight and defeat the purpose of this feeder
