Did the Tibetans use a separate restroom, water fountain, etc. from other ethnic Chinese?
From the mainstream media, and some posts by this forum, one got impression that China has conducted an apartheid policy like that of USA and South Africa in 1950s and before: such as a separate eating in a restaurant, a separate drinking from a water fountain, a separate rest room, the separate schools, the separate movies, etc.
Are all these true in China ?
This is false.
No, they do not.
and Han live in newer part of the city because they MOVED there LATER, while Tibetan people have lived in the city for a long time therefore making that part old.
Not that I know, but oddly enough in Lhasa there an old Tibetan part there the Tibetans live and a new part there the Hans live.
I have no idea why if the Tibetans were rolling in money they would live in an old house then there’s newer posher ones on the other side of town if the people there were so friendly to them….
Never heard about that. Only thing I’ve heard about Tibetans, is they only take two showers in their entire life, one at when they born, another one when they died.
No, it is not true and it is definitely not the policy.
Most of the results of segregation are due to their own culture isolation.
One of my friend in China did have a Tibetan friend. But she was very well educated in both Tibetan language/culture as well as Chinese language/culture so it helped her to bridge the gap.
separate restroom?
no no…the only thing that’s separated is helping them to preserve their language and culture in education
