Brian Boitano: Water Fountain
Boitano skates on a glacier from the 1988 special “Canvas Of Ice.” A beautiful performance in a breathtaking setting.

Same here! I have it somewhere and wish I could find a pristine DVD copy. I loved EVERYTHING about this. Those were the days.
One of the most magical moments on ice
so beautiful.. does anyone know, what music this is?
wow:D
ballet jump…1A…2A…and 3A!!!
beautiful trace<3 beautiful eagle<3
the ice loves him:)
Oh God thank you for adding this. David Foster wrote the music didn’t he?
This performance actually made me a Boitano fan for life. I didn’t actually see his Olympic programs until later.
I still remember seeing this… It was the best skating thing ever…
The music is “Water Fountain” by David Foster.
It’s on his Winter Solstice CD from the late 80s I think. Foster’s a famous pianist and composer and producer – he’s produced for Streisand,Josh Groban and Celine Dion and others.
Thank you very much for giving me an opportunity to see this great … dance… oh no… human flight.
I wonder if it was recorded before his Olympic victory or after. Looks as if he has already won his gold. And right, the ice loves him. Brilliant performance and an incomparable sense of freedom.
Thank you for posting this… I had this recorded on VHS when it was on TV…then my dog ate the video…I watched this show he taped with Katerina Witt almost everyday when I was little and a new skater. This was done after he won the Olympics. It was apart of a show he did called CANVAS ON ICE. I loooooooooved it and wish I could find the rest of the show. Thanks again.
This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. How theraputic for the nerve endings. Almost as calming as watching Brenda skate. Thank you both for so much viewing joy.
Omg I used to have this on video but the VCR chewed it up…thank you so much for posting this it brings chills down my spine everytime i see it!!
I remember seeing, “Canvas of Ice,” a few weeks between, “Head of the Class,” on location in Moscow, and, “Marlo Thomas & Friends: Free to Be….A Family.” In all three, I saw friendships form right before my very eyes. All of this happened while I was several weeks into my high school senior, in San Francisco.
This is the best, I still have the VHS tape from when I recorded it from the TV Special. The tape is still in good condition, I watch it all the time, to free my mind at times. Thank you for this, is there any other segments from that show on here? the one with the kids from a skating club was great, not to mention all of that TV Special.
God I’m speechless… such a magical place, such magical beauty and elegance, freedom… it is so peaceful, such a strong and sweet experience at the same time…
And perfect Music.
OMGoddess, I’ve never seen this before…Two of the most beautiful things in the world-the mountains of Alaska and the skaking of Brian Boitano. Thank you so much for posting this!!!
I have the entire “canvas of ice” show on tape somewhere. I used to watch it all the time. I really thought they were a couple… Little did I know! lol! It’s perfection
So beautifull and touching.. and it looks so easy …I wish I could have all the show
Love Brian from 1988 and would like to wish him achievments and joy in skating and personal life, live long and happy Tano!
Beautiful! As I remember watching this as a teenager! Really love watching Brian skate!
I totally, totally, loved it. It is really one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. I love the music, and that place..looks like heaven. I’m just learning about skaters, and I didn’t know about him cause I was born just in ‘93 hehe, but wow, skating on such a gorgeous place is a dream. I would cry too
. Thx for posting this, it touched my heart too.

1.30.09 I never thought I’d ever see this video again! I saw it only once years ago and hoped it would be shown again. But no. By chance, I came upon it going through some other videos. What joy! What beauty!. What magic! Thanks to whoever put this on YouTube.
One of figure skating’s most serene moments.
Grand skating.
Priceless scenery!
Wow. Thank you for posting. I remember seeing this for the first time on tv way back when and I almost cried…so beautiful.
